Could you try and see if it persists in 0.0.8? ( #✨updates )

carmine kelp
#

Will do

#

Unrelated to this thread, it fixed the sound selector. It defaults to the proper device now. ❤️

#

Yeap, still nothing

#

On a whim, let me try X11

#

no on both, but I have a random idea

#

Yeah, nothing.

#

I thought maybe it could be because XDG_CONFIG_HOME is blank

#

But steam launch option XDG_CONFIG_HOME="$HOME/.config" %command% had no effect

#

I'm on OpenSuse Tumbleweed, AMD 7950X, and AMD 7900XTX. On both 0.0.7 and 0.0.8 the Open Folder button works for me.

carmine kelp
#

KDE or GNOME?

spice crow
#

KDE

#

and Wayland

carmine kelp
#

could be a me thing then. Maybe dolphin is barfing

#

I wonder if I can get a log out of the game and see what it says

#

well, terminal luanch it just dies right after the title screen and reloads itself detached from the terminal...

lean crystal
#

Can you try switching the steam compatibility software to be steam runtime sniper (3.0)?

#

Based on what I saw in my player logs and with a bit of googling, I think that'll fix it

carmine kelp
#

I will, but also, what does that do?

#

Steam runtime?

#

So I assume it's not proton windows fakery, just a different set of linux libs to run the native binary against?

spice crow
#

It forces the use of Steam's bundled libs instead of system native libs

carmine kelp
#

iiiiinteresting

lean crystal
#

The different Steam Linux Runtime versions use different versions of libraries

carmine kelp
#

oh I see.

#

It doesn't see endevourOS anymore.

#

hahahaha

#

It opens the folder.

lean crystal
#

More sandboxed environment with the benefit of having libraries that may be older and potentially better supported in games

carmine kelp
#

And then crashes

#

yup, repeatable

lean crystal
#

No crash on my side, mind uploading the logs for that session?

carmine kelp
#

sure. Where are they?

lean crystal
#

#❓faq has the location

carmine kelp
#

gotcha

lean crystal
#

But if the blueprint folder is open, you can just go up a level 😅

carmine kelp
#

It's loss of focus

#

It jsut crashed when I clicked off it

lean crystal
#

Ah

#

Do not know how to help with that, I've not run into that once 😅

carmine kelp
#

Man don't even sweat.

#

I"m getitng to the point where I'm happy to call this a ME issue

lean crystal
#

Still, can you upload the logs all the same?

#

I'd like to take a look and see what I can see

spice crow
#

that might be a 0.0.8 bug. I've been getting the game crashing too when opening the blueprint forder, or attempting screenshare in discord. running a system update now to see if better drivers will help

carmine kelp
#

and close the thread as "Player has a terrible busted linux install"

#

Oh, okay, let me leave sniper 3, but revert to stable. AND also get those logs

lean crystal
#

Let me know if it happens on 0.0.7 and send logs from both runs regardless

#

What vulkan library do you have installed?

carmine kelp
#

Stable version + steam 3.0 results in success with no crash

#

vulkan_radeon

lean crystal
#

Well there goes that idea

carmine kelp
#

pacman -Q | grep vulkan
lib32-vulkan-icd-loader 1.3.279-1
lib32-vulkan-radeon 1:24.1.5-2
vulkan-headers 1:1.3.285-1
vulkan-icd-loader 1.3.285-1
vulkan-radeon 1:24.1.5-2
vulkan-tools 1.3.269-1

#

There you do, all installed vulkan packages and version

#

pacman -Q | grep mesa
lib32-mesa 1:24.1.5-2
mesa 1:24.1.5-2
mesa-utils 9.0.0-4

lean crystal
#

Identical

#

No clue

#

Especially since our hardware setups are so similar too; I'm just on a 5950X instead of the 7900X

carmine kelp
#

Honestly, that's probably it

#

I can't patch to the 6.10 kernals or my card craps itself

#

7900XTX is weirdly flaky. When it works, it's fine. When it wants to be cranky, it crashes consistently

lean crystal
#

This is why arch is better than the derivatives

carmine kelp
#

hahaha

lean crystal
#

Sorry I can't help more, I'm out of ideas

carmine kelp
#

I'm not smart enough for arch yet. EDOS is my stepping stone

#

Totally fine

#

Sniper 3.0 fixed it. The 0.0.8 binary has other crashing issues according to Gnemonix, so I probably got one of those.

spice crow
#

still waiting for a system update to see if that fixes things

carmine kelp
#

ALso my system is a liiiiitle flakey. It's being run by an idiot who likes to try things

lean crystal
#

That's what virtual machines are for

carmine kelp
#

But VMs can't have video cards.

#

I DID learn btrfs snapshots

lean crystal
#

PCIe passthrough

#

Ignore that it requires two GPUs in some manner

carmine kelp
#

Naw, we're due for a reinstall anyway. Only takes like...30 minutes. Total. Including restoring all my /home files.

#

And going forward I plan to leverage btrfs when I "try things"

#

so instead of trying to fix it after the fact when it all blows up in my face, I can just shrug and rollback

#

ANYWAY, thanks for the ideas! Always learning.

lean crystal
#

It's always an adventure

carmine kelp
#

SOLUTION: Switch steam compatibility to Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)

#

Yeah, that's why I love it.

#

With linux is MY computer. For better and worse XD

spice crow
#

Okay. After system update I can confirm the game crashed when clicking the Open Blueprint Folder button on 0.0.8 but it DOES work on 0.0.7 without crashing. Have not tested with Sniper runtime yet, and probably will not. 0.0.7 is good enough for me for now. (minus the audio interface being wrong issue)

Same problems on CachyOS. Don't know if it is related but when I edit something in the blueprint screen I have to reload the library or the blueprints won't be updated in the shortcuts.
