#[0.0.7] Different Rotations of the Same Shape Break Trains
22 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
this is known and intended
different shapes clear out loaders
also, for future bug reports, might want to remux that recording so it can embed properly
@balmy elm embedding fixed, not sure what you mean it's intended, they're the same shape, if the vortex takes rotations as the same shape trains should too
trains are in fact not the vortex
the reason the vortex accepts artibrary rotations is because you can face your camera in any direction, if you built your whole pipeline such that the shapes are rotated 90 degrees, fixing that is boring gameplay that doesnt add anything meaningful
or it could be confusing as to why it doesnt count as correct
but when youre working with trains, it only has to be the same relative to itself, meaning the ability to change the camera angle doesnt invalidate keeping the production consistent
you could think of this milestone as the one that teaches you this mechanic
this is exactly what will have to be done to get it on a train if you didn't micro manage the rotations through the building process no?
no
whats the difference between "oh shoot I forgot to rotate it 90 degrees for the vortext" and "oh shoot I forgot to rotate it 90 degrees for the loading station"
if youre loading shapes into a train, theyre almost certainly coming from the same factory
if youre making a factory that produces chaotic outputs, then that does hinder things
because the vortex is relative to north, your factories are relative to themselves / your camera
one is basically invisible, the other one is the most visible as it is what you see with
anyways i hope that explanation is satisfactory, i dont expect that this will change (though perhaps the game's feedback about what is happening could get made more clear)
it should probably be made clearer in the train knowledge panel that loaders are rotation specific since you play the game up until that point building machines where rotation doesn't matter
I mean, rotation does matter for every building
Like if you input CuCuRuRu into both inputs of a swapper, you'll get different results from RuCuCuRu
Or a cutter, etc
For reference, its intended that packages only accept the same shape, including its rotation
