The expected behavior is that the train runs to the starting point (i.e., goes down) instead of going up one more lap.

I think it's this intersection that's causing it.

Yeah you have red trains coming from both directions, I don't think there is a good way to solve that unless they were to compile pathfinding algorithms for every train or something silly
