i ran into this same issue and did some testing to see what exactly causes this
from my testing, shapes will be deleted if all of the following are met:
- the belt is backed up in a way that stops a shape in the middle of the filter
- the filter is set to filter for a shape (NOT a boolean)
- the correct shape is being sent through the filter
- at least 1/2 of the shapes have to be the correct one
this is how i found it
my game version is 0.0.8-RC3
this is a setup i used to test with
the filtered belt flows at full speed and "eats" half of the ----CuCu whilst letting all of the full circles through
Is there an update on this? It was reported almost three months ago and unfortunately it wrecks some builds entirely

this is a different behaviour
flickering the filter will delete everything, this one only deletes rejected shapes
Oh, it eats shapes even when the input signal is constant
